The Burial Cloth of Our Lord, Jesus Christ

The Holy Shroud of Turin is the actual burial cloth of Jesus Christ. It has survived throughout the centuries by many miracles in spite of attempts to destroy it by arson. The triangular and the somewhat tooth-shaped patches cover holes that were caused by a fire when the church it was in was set on fire.

What It Depicts

The Shroud was wrapped around Our Lord’s body lengthwise with His head in the center. That is why you can see the imprint of the front of His body with His arms on the left side and his back with the whip marks on the right side.
